Workshop 1: Sustainable Energy Financing in MECA
Date: December 4th, 10.00 – 12.00
Location: IAEE MECA 2025, Sirene Otel, Antalya, Türkiye
Workshop Title: Bridging the Finance Gap: Realistic Pathways for the MECA Region’s Energy Transition
Overview:
Capital markets today are not moving fast enough to meet the financing demands of the global energy transition — especially in the Middle East, Central Asia, and neighboring regions. This high-level workshop will explore the vast investment needs, deep regional disparities, and risks associated with energy transition financing. It will feature roundtable-style discussions led by experts in energy economics, policy, and finance to explore actionable strategies that balance decarbonization, development, and financial realism.
Confirmed Contributors:
-
Prof. John Ballantine
Framing the energy transition through the lens of national growth goals, budget constraints, and macroeconomic realities such as balance of payments and regional financing heterogeneity. -
Dr. Dawud Ansari (remote participation)
Addressing long-term demand/supply dynamics, price volatility, and uncertainty in investment environments, with scenario-based insights specific to MECA countries. -

Join us for a frank and forward-looking discussion at the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic energy transition regions.
Workshop 2 : Sustainability in Procurement
Date: December 4th, 10.00 – 12.00
Location: IAEE MECA 2025, Sirene Otel, Antalya, Türkiye
Workshop Title: Incorporating Sustainability Criteria in Supplier Selection: A Multi-Criteria Decision Making Approach
Overview:
In the era of energy transition and supply chain transformation, integrating sustainability into procurement processes is no longer optional — it’s strategic. This hands-on workshop explores how organizations can embed environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into supplier evaluation using multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) frameworks.
The session will demonstrate how structured tools can help decision-makers navigate complex trade-offs between cost, reliability, and sustainability. Participants will gain practical insight into building weighted evaluation models that align supplier choices with broader corporate responsibility and decarbonization goals.
